Description
This tour offers a comprehensive cruise through some of the main attractions of the Beagle Channel, including Sea Lion Island, Bird Island, and the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Once past the lighthouse, the boat continues eastward, allowing you to enjoy expansive views of the channel and the imposing mountain range that accompanies the Fuegian landscape.
During the cruise, you can identify two points of great interest in the distance: Puerto Almanza, on the Argentinian side, recognized as a traditional artisanal fishing village where products such as king crab and mussels stand out; and the Puerto Williams Naval Base, located in Chilean territory.
Upon arriving at Martillo Island, the boat stops its engines off the coast for penguin watching from the catamaran, respecting their natural environment. Two species coexist on this island: the smaller Magellanic penguin, with its characteristic black and white plumage that allows it to camouflage itself in the water, and the Gentoo penguin, noticeably larger and known for being one of the fastest swimmers, with males reaching up to 8 kg in weight.
On the return journey to Ushuaia, the cruise takes place closer to the Beagle Channel coast, providing an excellent opportunity to observe the local flora and fauna. During this section, you can also see the Túnel and Remolino Estancias, where the semi-sunken hull of the Vapor Monte Sarmiento Ship has been located since 1912.
As a closing to the experience, the tour offers a final postcard with views of the mountain range surrounding the city of Ushuaia, completing an excursion of great scenic, historical, and natural value.
