Description
Glacier South Adventure is an exclusive and unique offering that invites you to discover an almost unexplored area of Los Glaciares National Park. This experience combines navigating in semi-rigid boats and hiking through unique natural settings to reach the imposing Frías Glacier.
The day begins at 7:30 a.m., with pick-up from hotels in El Calafate. From there, the journey heads along the old estancia route towards Lago Roca, within Los Glaciares National Park, about 70 km from El Calafate.
Near Estancia Nibepo Aike, you’ll board a semi-rigid boat to navigate the South Arm of Lago Argentino, heading towards its southernmost end. Once on solid ground, an exclusive trek begins towards Lago Frías, crossing a pristine and beautiful environment.
Upon arrival, another boat trip is taken in a motorized zodiac boat to cross to the opposite shore, where the last stretch of the hike begins towards Glaciar Grande. In total, the excursion includes around 6 hours of trekking distributed in several sections, adding up to 14 km of travel with a moderate elevation gain.
Lunch is enjoyed in front of the Amphitheater of Glaciers, surrounded by the Grande, Cubo, and Dickson glaciers.
After the break, the return journey begins, following the same paths and boat trips used on the way there. Arrival in El Calafate is scheduled for around 7:00 p.m., after having experienced an unforgettable day of adventure in a little-known region of the national park, away from the traditional tourist circuits.
