Description

Estancia Cristina Horseback Riding combines navigation through the Upsala Channel with a day in the countryside at the historic Estancia Cristina, adding a unique horseback riding experience through the Patagonian fields of the estancia.

If you booked with transfer, the excursion begins from El Calafate, and passengers will be picked up from their hotels starting at 7:30 a.m. to go to Puerto de Punta Bandera, located 47 km from the city. Those arriving on their own should go directly to the port at 8:30 a.m.

The boat sets sail at 9:00 a.m., sailing through the North Arm of Lake Argentino to the Upsala Channel, from where you can see the western front of the glacier in the distance, surrounded by enormous icebergs of various shapes. The navigation continues between imposing mountainous landscapes and ice fields until entering the Cristina Channel, which leads to the estancia.

After sailing, upon arriving at Estancia Cristina, the horseback ride begins, covering a total of 4 hours suitable for all types of riders, delving into the valley of the Caterina River, surrounded by imposing hills, Patagonian grasslands, and the characteristic silence of these isolated Patagonian landscapes. The journey takes us to the Pearson Lagoon, a body of water hidden among mountains where a refuge emerges as part of the glacial landscape. For the more adventurous, the horseback ride also offers alternatives towards natural viewpoints with exceptional views of the Ice Field. A different way to get to know the estancia and connect with Patagonian nature.

Back at the estancia, visit the Museo Costumbrista, located in the old sheds, where objects, photographs, and stories of the Masters family, pioneers of this inhospitable corner of Patagonia, are preserved.

The day combines adventure, history, and unique landscapes in an environment that keeps the Patagonian essence alive. After the activities, the return trip to Puerto de Punta Bandera and later to the hotels in El Calafate begins, with an approximate arrival at 8:00 p.m.
