Description
La Leona Petrified Forest is an excursion for nature and adventure lovers, allowing you to explore a unique area of the Patagonian steppe located between El Calafate and Chaltén. The tour includes approximately 3 hours of intermittent walking through terrain where wind and water have uncovered dinosaur fossils and petrified logs that remained hidden for millions of years.
During the tour along Route 40, enjoy panoramic views of Argentino Lake, Santa Cruz River, La Leona River, and the Andes Mountains, including the majestic Mount Fitz Roy.
The exploration walk allows you to discover petrified logs up to 1.2 meters in diameter, vestiges of times when the Patagonian climate allowed the growth of an abundant forest. In addition, you can identify fossil remains of different dinosaurs with the help of the guide. During the walk, lunch with included box lunch is provided.
