Description
The trek to Laguna Esmeralda is one of the simplest and most recommended outdoor experiences to do in Ushuaia, ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in the landscapes of the End of the World. Throughout the walk you will be accompanied by professional mountain guides, who will guide you along a route of approximately 10 km, crossing lenga forests, peat areas, beaver dams and small streams that lead to the imposing Laguna Esmeralda, surrounded by mountains and glaciers. The excursion includes a packed lunch to enjoy in a unique natural environment.
The activity starts at 10:00 am with the transfer from your hotel in Ushuaia, where you will be picked up by the vehicles together with the guides to go along National Route No. 3 to the starting point of the trail.
Once there, and if the road conditions require it due to the presence of snow or ice, the guides will provide the necessary technical equipment to make the walk safe and comfortable, such as crampons and poles. The trek begins by entering the forest within the Lasifashaj Valley, following a well-marked and easy-to-follow path. Along the way you will cross peat bogs, areas with stones and lenga forests that, depending on the time of year, may be covered in snow, offering a landscape of great beauty and Patagonian character.
After traveling approximately 5 km you reach Laguna Esmeralda, where you can see the glaciers in the background, the mountains that surround it and the greenish tones that characterize its waters. This small lake of glacial origin owes its name to the sediments from the Ojo del Albino Glacier, responsible for its particular color. At this point, a break is taken to enjoy the surroundings and the included lunch.
After the stay in the lagoon, the return begins along the same path to the meeting point with the vehicle, which will transfer you back to your hotels in the city of Ushuaia, dropping you off around 4:30 p.m.
Important: The excursion is confirmed with a minimum of 2 registered passengers.
All passengers are insured and must complete a medical form with responsibility.
