Description

The excursion to Vinciguerra Glacier is an ideal option for those seeking a more challenging mountain experience in Ushuaia and wish to explore the unique landscapes of the End of the World. This is an intermediate-level trek that goes through the Andorra Valley, crosses peat areas, Fuegian forests, and ascends through rocky sectors until reaching a high mountain environment. The activity lasts approximately 9 hours and covers a total distance of 16 km, offering unparalleled panoramic views of Vinciguerra Glacier, Laguna de los Témpanos, and its impressive ice formations.

The day begins at 9:00 am with the transfer from your hotel in Ushuaia, where you will be picked up along with the mountain guides to head by vehicle to the starting point of the trail, located in the Andorra Valley, about 7 km from the city center.

From there, the hike begins, bordering the Arroyo Grande, first crossing a peat bog area and then continuing the ascent into the Fuegian forest. As you advance, the landscape begins to open up, highlighting the typical views of the southern Patagonia that surround the route.

The trek continues to gain altitude with sections that require greater physical effort, surpassing the vegetation limit and giving way to a mountain setting where rock and ice predominate. In this sector, you reach Laguna de los Témpanos and Vinciguerra Glacier, where, accompanied by specialized guides, it is possible to access ice caves and observe cracks, sinkholes, and large natural formations. In this environment, a break is taken for lunch, rest, and enjoyment of the landscape.

To conclude the experience, the return to Ushuaia begins along the same path, again crossing the forest, the peat bog, and the stony sections, while taking advantage of the last views of the Andorra Valley and its natural environment, arriving at approximately 5:45 pm.

Important: The excursion takes place with a minimum of 2 confirmed passengers.
